If you dream of working from home, setting your own schedule, and working the hours you choose, then work as a virtual assistant may be the right type of work for you. If you’re asking, “How do I become a Virtual Assistant?” then I have got a lot of good info for you!
WHAT IS A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT?
A Virtual Assistant (also called a VA, for short) is an exciting career field that is growing every single year. Right now, there are about 25,000 people employed as VA’s around the globe.
Unlike many other work-at-home types of jobs, when you work as a virtual assistant, it is a career where you can name your own price. How much you earn really depends on how many clients you want to take on, and how much you want to work.
If you are very organized and good at what you do, a 6-figure income is well within your reach.
A virtual assistant is just like a secretary, personal assistant, or any type of support person within an organization. The only difference is that when you work as a virtual assistant, you typically work from home. This also means you can pick your own hours and days that you work.
Now that you know what a VA is, you’re probably wondering, “How do I become a virtual assistant?” Hold tight… I’m getting to that. 🙂 But first…
WHO USES VIRTUAL ASSISTANTS?
There are many types of employers and companies who hire virtual assistants. Take me, for instance.
I am a blogger, an affiliate marketer, and I write ebooks. People like me hire virtual assistants to help with some of the tasks that we would otherwise not have enough time for.
Bloggers, small business owners, and writers are just a few of the people who use a virtual assistant to get stuff done.
A larger company may want to hire a professional virtual assistant to help with temporary projects that need more hands, without having to hire additional permanent employees.
Any business that is able to do a large portion of their tasks online could have a spot where they can use a virtual assistant.
WHAT TASKS MIGHT I DO IF I WORK AS A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT?
Virtual assistants perform a variety of tasks for their employers.
Basically, anything that can be done on a computer, over the internet, on the phone, or via skype, can be completed by a virtual assistant.
This may include, but is not limited to:
Email management, Social media management, Sending out thank you’s, Researching for a blog post, Writing blog posts, Scheduling, Keeping track of trends, Bookkeeping , and Networking.
WHO MAKES AN IDEAL VIRTUAL ASSISTANT?
Before I answer your question, “How do I become a virtual assistant?” I’m first going to tell you WHO makes a good VA.
You might make a good VA if you are:
A motivated self starter
You desire a work from home career
You are organized
Good with time management
Have good technology skills
Have good references
Does this describe you? If so, you could have a great career working as a Virtual Assistant!
WHAT KIND OF MONEY CAN I EARN AS A VA?
The salary you earn as a Virtual Assistant really varies, but can definitely reach a 6-figure income if you have steady work and are good at what you do.
A VA can make anywhere from $15/hour to $50/hour…and even more in some areas. However, if you are just starting out, you’ll start at the low end of the totem pole as you are gaining experience.
Typically you would be working for several clients at one time, which would give you the chance to work a full work week, and earn a full time income.
